The new comet is approaching the sun

A newly discovered comet may be one of the brightest objects in the night sky when it approaches Earth next year.

The comet was discovered by astronomers Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok of the International Science Optical System (Russia).

The Asteroid Center of the International Astronomical Union in Cambridge (USA) has confirmed the new comet, which is only a small dot in the sky, and has not yet reached the scope of Jupiter.

The calculation results show that the ISON comet is heading towards the sun and will reach the closest point to the central star on November 28 or 29, 2013, according to NewScientist.com.

The heat emitted from the sun will evaporate the icy surface of the comet as it approaches, emitting dust that helps the comet shine with its exceptionally long tail.

It is even brighter than the full moon when approaching the sun, according to Astronomy Now.

The comet orbit of ISON shows that it is a "new player" from the Oort cloud, a ring of icy objects surrounding the solar system.
