This was the first time the Orion ship flew into space, but it was the fifth time that it had been used to salvage a spaceship by sea landing.Four previous tests took place before Orion's flight into space, so the rescue team could get used to and prepare for salvage operations. The first test took place in August 2013 at Norfolk naval base, Virginia state. The remaining times take place in early 2014.
