Tomovic saw the bodies of the two animals on Golem Grad Island (Macedonia). According to Tomovic, the snake swallowed the centipede but did not expect that its prey resisted fiercely and caused both of them to die.

Tomovic said the main cause of the centipede's death was that it had been poisoned by the snake.

"The serpent made a serious mistake when underestimating the danger and power of the centipede. The centipede resisted fiercely. The first time I saw this scene because it was a very rare thing." - Tomovic said.

This is not the first time a snake has died from a bite. In May 1965, on a Greek island, a group of scientists also witnessed the belly slitting of a snake after being swallowed.
