The star is brighter than the Sun.
Researchers have recently discovered that a yellow star has the largest size ever and is brighter than the Sun.
According to AFP, the newly discovered star is called HR 5171 A , located about 12,000 light-years from Earth.

HR 5171 A is 1,300 times larger than the Sun and about a million times brighter than the Sun. Compared to Betelgeuse, one of the largest and brightest stars known by astronomers, HR 5171 A is 50% larger. With this size, astronomers identify this as the largest gold star ever observed in the galaxy.
HR 5171 A is part of a binary star system and lies very close to the other star, forming a binary star structure shaped like a giant peanut.
The team from the Southern European Observatory (ESO) says giant gold stars are a rare type of star in the galaxy. So far, experts have discovered 12 stars of this type.

HR 5171 A is observed through a telescope located in Chile. In the past 40 years, HR 5171 size has gradually increased and its temperature is decreasing.
