The strange disappearance of the Kingdom of Minos

Greek mythology has a very interesting story claiming to have the Kingdom of Minos on Crete.

The kingdom of Minos and the mystery have no solution

Western archaeologists also acknowledge that the ancient Greek myths and legends are most likely based on real historical facts and figures. But, what makes one feel puzzled is that the Kingdom of Minos and the secret of mythology are not recorded in any page of the Greek nation. So that attracted the attention of many people over the ages.

In the late nineteenth century, a group of archaeologists arrived in Crete and discovered the ruins of the palace . It has a rectangular shape, covering an area of about 20,000 square meters, in the middle is a square and a yard, with more than 1,300 rooms. In the ruins pile also discovered the symbol of 2 hammer blades. Archaeologists unanimously agree that this is the legendary Minos palace .

The mythical kingdom of Minos has been validated, but how has it disappeared? In 1907, American archaeologists discovered a commercial city below a depth of 60 m of the ash floor at the foot of a volcano on Santorini island north of Crete. The evidence shows that this citadel dates back about 1,500 BC, when Santorini volcano burned, buried the city under ash.

It was one of the most active volcanoes in human history, spewing out an amount of lava occupying 62,500 square meters. Active volcanoes lead to huge sea storms, waves up to 50m high to destroy the city on the island. The kingdom of Minos has been destroyed since then. With time, the Kingdom of Minos went into oblivion, only mentioned in legend.

But, that is just a hypothesis, how the disappearance of the Minos Kingdom really happened so far is still a question for us.
