Photographer Jack Lee captures an impressive sea sunset picture with a blue halo appearing on the Sun in the Cook Islands, Pacific Ocean, in August 2017, Story Trender reported. Lee shared the photo on social networks last week and attracted a lot of attention.

Realizing the optimal conditions, he quickly took pictures when the Sun began to set, gradually disappearing under the ocean. He successfully caught the moment the blue light flashed at the edge of the Sun, where the sea was exposed, before the Sun disappeared from sight.

"I am very fortunate to have recorded the scene that is almost impossible to see with this naked eye. It happens very quickly, in just a moment," Lee said. The sky was pretty clear then and he started shooting very fast when the Sun went down. Although he had never witnessed this phenomenon, he had studied it thoroughly before.

A rare sight occurs because the atmosphere turns sunlight into red, green and blue, depending on the angle. When the sky is clear, the lucky ones can catch a glimpse of the blue halo just above the Sun for a brief moment at a time.
