The trail of a new explosion occurred on Mars

The US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has just released an image of a large explosion on the surface of the Red Planet.

NASA said, HiRISE Mars probe captures a 30m-diameter hole on the surface of the red planet on November 19, 2013. Experts estimate that the explosion blew up rocks 15km above the Martian surface. This is one of the biggest impacts on the Mars surface that people have ever recorded.

NASA experts used the HiRISE probe to review the area after noticing a few changes from the photos they took in July 2010 and May 2012. After comparing new archives and photos, NASA's team concluded that craters on the surface of Mars have only recently appeared. The color around the crater shows a huge amount of material disturbed by the explosion.

Mars rocks contain quite a lot of iron and they will turn into red iron oxide due to weathering. The wind brings this dust to spread across the planet, covering most of Mars. When some object impacts this iron oxide layer, it will reveal the true color of Martian matter.

It is believed that the crater is remnant when a meteorite rushes into the surface of the red planet. However, NASA has not confirmed this hypothesis.
