The truth about 'time traveler' Sergei Ponomarenko

Sergei Ponomarenko's suspicious appearance on a street in the Ukrainian capital Kiev caught the attention of the police. They walked up and asked to see his identification documents and were extremely surprised to see what was written on it.

On April 23, 2006, a man in his 30s was arrested by Kiev city police (Ukraine) because of his suspicious appearance. This person was wearing Soviet-style clothes and said his name was Sergei Ponomarenko .

Sergei looked extremely confused. This is not unusual for someone who has just been arrested. However, the strange thing was that he asked again and again: 'What year is it?'

Sergei Ponomarenko – Time traveler?

Claims of time travel are no longer new, and neither is what Sergei told the police. However, what makes Sergei different is that he has proof of his story.

Sergei told officers that he appeared to have been lost in another place and time. This young man said that just a few minutes before, he was still in 1958. When asked for identification, Sergei happily gave it, but that made things even more confusing.

What Sergei presented was not a current ID document in Ukraine. What he presented were documents of Ukrainian citizens when the country was still part of the Soviet Union. The photo on the paperwork appears to be Sergei and the information lists his year of birth as 1932.

Sergei's appearance suggests that he could not have been born in 1932. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 and Ukraine has been independent ever since. So how did this 25-year-old man have identification documents from the Soviet era?

Clues from the camera

In addition to his vintage clothes, Sergei also has something else that could prove he has 'time traveled'. It was a very old camera.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that this is a camera model that has been discontinued since the 1970s. More importantly, the film roll inside the camera is still intact and can be developed if a photography expert is found.

Sergei insisted that the camera was his and that what he captured could prove he had time traveled.

According to Sergei, he took pictures of the city just before 'being' transported to the future. While Sergei was walking with his fiance, Valentina Curish, the two of them spotted something strange in the sky.

The object was bell-shaped and floated strangely. Sergei felt fascinated and thought that if he took a photo, he could take a closer look after the film was developed.

Sergei pointed the camera up and took a photo of the unidentified flying object. At that moment, Sergei traveled through time. When he lowered the camera, Sergei was no longer in 1958 but in 2006.

A photography expert was asked by the police to develop Sergei's film. This person was extremely surprised to find the classic film in almost perfect condition.

What the expert saw in the photos corroborated Sergei's story: there was a photo of a woman who could have been Sergei's fiance; there is a photo of Sergei wearing the exact clothes he was wearing when he was arrested by the police; Finally, just as Sergei said, there was a bell-shaped UFO.

Although extremely difficult to believe, the photos show that what Sergei Ponomarenko said is true. Since 'time travel' was beyond the knowledge of the Kiev police, they did the only thing they could do: asked a psychiatrist.

Disappeared without a trace

The police officers who arrested Sergei believed there was nothing else they could do for the man. Maybe he really is a time traveler or a mentally challenged person.

Since the second possibility was more realistic, they took Sergei to a psychiatric clinic to get medical help.

On April 23, 2006, Dr. Pablo Kutrikov examined Sergei. The entire question and answer process was recorded.

Sergei answered all the questions as if he were at the police station. He told the doctor that he was 25 years old and was taking pictures with his fiance when he 'traveled' to 2006.

Dr. Kutrikov then shows Sergei the developed photos. Sergei was not surprised to see the images and insisted that they were proof of what he had said.

Sergei then returned to his room. However, after leaving the doctor's office, he disappeared without a trace.

Will Sergei Ponomarenko return to the correct space and time in 1958 or is his story just a fabrication?

The truth exposed

The story of time traveler Sergei Ponomarenko is quite interesting. It has been there for some time that visual evidence seems to indicate that Sergei is real. Just a quick search on the internet will turn up photos of Sergei and photos from his camera.

But eventually the truth was revealed.

Digging deeper into the case of Sergei Ponomarenko, people discovered something strange. All of the photos claimed as evidence for Sergei's story are recreations made for a Ukrainian TV show called 'Aliens'.

The show created those images for the episode 'Time Traveler' . So none of the photos are authentic. More importantly, the show 'Aliens' included a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode, informing viewers that there was no real evidence that what they showed was true. .

The statement reads as follows : 'The "Alien" series aims to recreate controversial topics. Any theories and hypotheses proposed cannot be considered correct and require further scientific research. All recreated images are based on "witness" testimony. There is no conclusive evidence proving the existence of aliens. Your view on this matter is up to you '.
