The UN proposed a 7-point strategy
At the United Nations Global Health Summit held in New York (USA), yesterday, Secretary General Kofi Annan proposed a seven-point strategy to prepare to cope and stop the spread of the flu. :
1) invest more in veterinary infrastructure;
2) change the indoor poultry habits;
3) determine the focus of activities in countries when disease outbreaks occur;
4) enhance production of vaccines and flu medications;
5) promoting cooperation in the field of scientific research on influenza prevention and disclosure of disease information;
6) publish important findings about flu viruses to prevent;
7) promote political leadership at the highest level when the disease outbreak.
Previously, Replicor of Canada announced that it had manufactured a compound to treat flu, including H5N1, which proved successful in mice.
Yesterday, the eastern Japanese town of Ibaraki ordered the destruction of 180,000 chickens on a farm after detecting avian flu antibodies on these animals. Although the H5 virus has not been detected, the number of dead chickens on this farm has increased rapidly.
