Unbelievable moments in the animal world

Frogs strangled snakes, chimpanzees ripped off wild boars are two of the photos won the " Photographer of the Wild Nature " award in 2008.

The annual " Wild Nature Photographer of the Year " competition is held annually in London by the Natural History Museum and the BBC's Wild Nature Journal. Here are 5 winning photos in 2008.

1. The deadlock: The photo won the prize of animal behavior

Photographer David Maitland discovered the survival battle between a cat-eyed snake and a Morelet tree frog (a species facing the danger of extinction) in the middle of the night. The snake coiled around a tree and wanted to grab the head of the prey, but it only sucked the opponent's lower jaw. The tree frog also tried to strangle and push the snake out. The predator doesn't want to release the frog, but can't swallow it.

2. Frodo's reward: The photo won the mammalian behavior award

The old chimp named Frodo, 31, has lost the marshal position it held for years, but remains the most powerful predator in chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania. In the picture, Frodo is eating a wild boar.

Usually chimpanzees or monkeys catch meat, so the fact that Frodo eats pork is a rare phenomenon. That could be the result of a fight because the pig was torn in half.

3. Snow leopard prey in snowstorm: Photo winning animal endangered

Steve took some pictures of the snow leopard between January and July this year. This is the picture he got after secretly following a snow leopard in the snowstorm in May. The animal turned to look at the photographer right after he hit the camera.

Today, snow leopard is facing the danger of extinction. They are predators but are also hunted aggressively by humans to get skin and bones.

4. First meeting: The photo won the Aquatic Animal Prize

While swimming at a depth of 22 meters near the Auckland Islands south of New Zealand, Brian Skerry met a 14-meter whale, weighing about 70 tons. It seemed that the animal did not pay attention to the presence of the American photographer, or it was not uncomfortable because of his presence. This is the first time Brian has met the whales directly.

5. Performance: Photos won prizes New animals mature

No wise lion wants to attack an adult giraffe, because an accurate heel of its heel can cause predators to perish. But Catriona was present at an oasis in Hobatere Lodge, Damaraland, Namibia, and the photographer saw a male death user hovering around a giraffe to harass. Unaware of the predator, the deer still headed to the oasis to drink water.
