Uncommonly rare spiral-shaped structure of cosmic dust

On October 10, astronomers announced a rare image of a cosmic dust structure and spiral gas surrounding a giant red star. This is the first such a structure discovered by humanity.

These amazing images were recorded by Chile's powerful Alma telescope. The telescope has 66 antennas that can explore the universe based on radio waves emitted from galaxies, stars and other objects that optical or infrared telescopes cannot record. .

This finding marks the first time scientists have found such a strange structure and also gathered enough three-dimensional information about this spiral.'We have seen bridges around this star before, but this is the first time we have seen a spiral-shaped material appear outside a star,' said Matthias Maercker, agency European astronomy (ESO) affirmed.

Earlier astronomers had no idea that the star, named R Sculptoris , had spiraling halo. Giant red stars are the main source of dust and gas in the universe, contributing to the creation of large quantities of raw materials for newly formed stars or planetary systems.

'We always hope ALMA can give us a new perspective on the universe, but few think that it will be possible to discover something new in one of the first observations. This is interesting , 'Mr. Maercker said.
