US donated Japan disaster disaster recovery robot
US company iRobot has awarded Japan 4 robots, including 2 robots named PackBots and 2 robots called Warriors, to combine with Japanese robots to participate in the recovery of earthquake and tsunami disaster.
PackBot
PackBot is a fast test combat unit, it is used to distribute bombs, reconnaissance and other tactical activities. In Japan, PackBot is equipped with Hazmat sensors and deployed in the area of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, to search for unusual chemical, biological or radioactive substances.
Warrior
Warrior is a larger robot model, it can pass through rubble and can lift heavy objects up to more than 100kg. In addition to this mission, it has the ability to fire, with the deployment of a water cannon, or clean up rubble. Warrior adds PackBots agility and the ability to penetrate hot areas.
Both PackBot and Warrior are remotely controlled from a distance of 800m and the data will be transmitted to the control station. These robots play an important role in a joint effort to find and recover from natural disasters, which can enter dangerous places to prevent unnecessary human casualties.
