US-Indonesia protects coral triangle biodiversity

The United States is one of the partner countries committed to supporting the Indonesian government and private sector to protect marine and coastal biodiversity in the Coral Triangle.

The US ambassador to Indonesia said Washington's support for the conservation and protection of the biodiversity of the Coral Triangle is part of a comprehensive US-Indonesia partnership, and one of the Founding partner of the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI). America has long affirmed the potential of the Coral Triangle area for its economic and environmental benefits.

In the contribution, $ 32 million was spent on Indonesia to help the government to protect and sustainably manage 20 million hectares of coastal and marine resources, increasing food and economic security for 360 million households. in the Coral Triangle area, increasing resilience to climate change and natural disasters, restoring coral and aquatic biodiversity.

The US Indonesia Assistance Program in the Coral Triangle area gives first priority to the sustainable management of 8 million hectares of marine protected areas, in cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Sea and Fisheries to establish a conservation system.
