Using a paint gun to repel

In the proposed ways to repel an asteroid capable of destroying the Earth, using paint guns is probably the most recommended listening list.

In the case of the Earth facing an asteroid, sending a group of nuclear bombing experts onto an asteroid like Armageddon might be a viable solution.

Fortunately, we have more than 20 years of preparation for such an event. Recently, Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers (MIT) have made an interesting suggestion: using paint guns to treat asteroids.

According to Forbes, referring to the interpretation of expert Sung Wook Paek, the first series of bullets came from a nearby spacecraft that would have a white color on the half of the asteroid surface, and the second round of bullets would cover the remains of this celestial body.

If only the paint was hit, asteroids could be slightly deviated from its original orbit. However, after a while, the white paint will reflect light and other electromagnetic radiation from the sun. And because of the highly reflective white paint, the cumulative effect from millions of colliding photons on the asteroid's surface can create enough pressure to push it off the journey of death.

To test the idea, Paek applied the Apophis killer model , weighing 27 gigaton, about 450 meters across, expected to approach Earth in 2029.

According to the expert's calculations, a pre-emptive attack before 20 years could provide enough time for solar radiation to move asteroids off the original path.
