Vietnam produces fireproof and bulletproof paints made from rice husk

A domestic company has successfully produced a fire-proof and bullet-proof paint made from rice husk with a price of only 1/3 of the price of foreign fire-retardant paint.

On January 10, the workshop on paint application materials in fire prevention, taking place in Vung Tau City, received the attention of many construction companies and agencies related to fire prevention. Fire fighting (PCCC).

At the workshop, it was announced that the nano fireproof paint made from rice husk. This is a water-based fire retardant paint , using nano technology from the first rice husk in the world produced by a Vietnamese paint company. This paint can be applied on many materials such as wood, concrete, plaster, iron.

The workshop also experimented, burning samples of materials that were covered with nano rice husk fireproof paint. Experimental results show that the fire protection efficiency is approximately 360 minutes, passing level 1 is the highest level prescribed by Vietnamese technical standards.

This is the invention of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoe , who was awarded the Kovalevskaya science award of Russia. The technology of producing paint from rice husks has been patented from the US. Ms. Hoe said that there are many types of fire-retardant paints on the market, but only slowing the fire to 500-600 degrees Celsius, with the price up to 200,000 VND / m 2 . Meanwhile, foreign fire-retardant paints have cost 50-100 USD / m 2 .

Ms. Hoe said that the paint she made could resist fire at 800-1200 degrees Celsius , when the fire did not cause c. The test shows that paint quality is superior to foreign products of the same type as Singapore, especially Germany, a leading country in fireproof coating technology in the world.

Regarding selling price, Mr. Nguyen Khoi, technical director of Kova paint company, said that the price of paint is only 1/3 compared to imported fireproof paints. However, this price is still high, partly due to the cost of transporting rice husk to the factory.

12 tons of rice husk only get 1 ton of ash, continue to be treated with new technology to apply to paint. But the coverage of the nano rice husk paint is quite good, on average, 1kg of paint can cover 1.5m 2 of the surface of the material.

Mr. Tran Trung Thanh, Deputy Director, Department of Fire Protection and Rescue Rescue said, there are many types of fire-retardant paints on the market, but nano-retardant paints are the first to appear in Vietnam.

Through on-site experiments, it showed the fireproofing time of this paint was longer. The production of rice husk nano paint also makes use of rice husk, a waste product in agricultural production, contributing to creating additional income for farmers.

Many construction enterprises and furniture are quite interested in this new paint. Mr. Hoang Tien Lap, representative of Hoang Phu Investment and Production Investment Joint Stock Company, said that the successful production of high quality nano fire retardant paint in the country contributes to reducing construction costs, saving time waiting. import goods from abroad.

In addition to fire-retardant paint, Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoe, has successfully researched bulletproof paint, self-cleaning paint , and antibacterial paint. In it, the bulletproof paint was experimented with real bullets in Cambodia, but not yet commercialized.
