Very rare blue-haired puppies, only 10,000 are available for 1

The owner of the dogs was surprised to discover that in the herd there was a blue fur, like the skin color of Princess Fiona in the cartoon "Shrek".

'Our green puppy is really rare. I wish this hair color would last forever. It looks so cool!', the owner of the blue dog, Audra Mosher, from Canada, shared on Facebook.

The new breed of Bulldog Freya puppies of the family of Mr. Trevor and Audra Mosher has 8 children, this blue dog is the most special. They named it Fiona after the princess from the cartoon 'Shrek'.

The blue-haired girl is named Fiona.

Dogs born with blue fur are extremely rare.

Fiona was born in a black amniotic sac, while her siblings were in normal opaque white sacs. Fiona's strange blue coat color is the result of exposure to biliverdin of bile while in the womb.

Audra and her husband thought Fiona was stillborn until they discovered it was still moving.

Mr Trevor told Global News: 'We dried it off and noticed it had blue fur. Immediately, I thought something was wrong. So we posted a picture of him on social media: "My puppy is green, what's wrong?". Apparently it is very rare and has only been seen a few times around the world.

I'm really amazed and feel very lucky to have witnessed it and be a part of its life."

The blue coat makes Fiona stand out the most in the pack.

Veterinarian Bronwyn Crane says the chance of a dog being born with blue coat is less than 1 in 10,000. 'I've never met a green-haired puppy before,' she said. However, this color will fade and disappear completely.

In 2020, The Sun reported on a white German Sherpherd named Gypsy giving birth to a similar blue-haired puppy. Experts say the puppy's strange color may be caused by meconium.
