Arowanas are popular among hobbyists today. According to the Research and Aquaculture Research Institute 2, there are many places in the country to breed and to produce about 10 F2 fish arowanas in Vietnam. They are chip-attached and have a ' birth certificate ' to track.
Some studies of Vietnamese scientists prove the existence of rare arowanas in Vietnam. Also according to the Research and Aquaculture Research Institute 2, in 2003, a number of research groups reported that a few groups of Vietnamese arowanas have been found in the upper reaches of Cat Tien National Park.
Arowana species are difficult to breed, must take care of the fish to give birth. In addition to nutrition, arowanas need special support of gas generators, pH gauges, thermometers, heaters, power-losing jacuzzis and even oxygen tanks when the fish lacks air to breathe.
Artisan Nguyen Van Nghiep, Q. Phu Nhuan-Ho Chi Minh City said arowanas are very strict about habitat, requiring aquarium water to have 18 microelements, the temperature must be low . Currently, arowanas are Very valuable, about 5,000 - 6,000 USD / child.
