Why do birds sing in the spring?

A group of scientists from England and Japan have discovered why birds start singing when spring comes.

When bathing in light for a long time, the cells on the bird's cortex initiate a series of hormonal reactions, informing them that it is time to look for partners and that the birds start singing.

According to Reuters, a group of researchers led by Professor Takashi Yoshimura of Nagoya University (Japan) discovered the mechanism after examining 38,000 genes present on brain samples of quail birds in Japan.

Accordingly, the genes were activated after 14 hours since the dawn of the first day with enough sunlight. This finding promises to be able to help scientists find a cure for human infertility, as humans also have similar cells present in the same part of the brain as birds.
