Why do your ceiling fans have only 3 wings, but do ceiling fans in the US or Europe have 4.5 wings?

There is a very scientific reason for this.

Modern ceiling fans work effectively thanks to the techniques of aerodynamic engineers.The aerodynamics are extremely important because, thanks to them, the new fan can have high performance and smooth operation.

The rotors rotate and push the air downwards to create a moving airflow that makes the room feel cooler (in fact, it doesn't make the room cooler). This happens because the rotor is slightly tilted against the horizontal. As a result, when the fan rotates, the propellers push the gas up or down depending on the direction of rotation of the rotor, and the direction of the wing's tilt. Usually any fan obeys the right hand rule : if you hold your right hand so that your finger is pointing in the direction of the propeller, the airflow will be the thumb direction. When it turns in a counter-clockwise direction, it is blowing wind toward you.

But why do American and European fans have 4.5 wings while fans in Vietnam have only 3 wings?

In the US and European countries, the climate is cooler, the purpose of ceiling fans is to complement conditioning , not the main cooling tool. Fans with 4 or 5 rotating blades are slower than 3-blade fans and usually only 3 steps of fan speed. The fan keeps the air in the room cool by moving air from air conditioner to the whole room. More wings mean more wind but more energy.

In Vietnam or India or Southeast Asian countries, due to economic reasons, families use fans with the main purpose of cooling. The 3-wing fan is lighter and has about 5-6 speed steps, it can spin stronger, and can cool better than a 4-blade fan. These fans also consume less energy.

So the reason is simply because of heat and . economics.
