Why does the belly cry when hungry?

The digestive system contributes to pushing food, gas, and liquid through the stomach and small intestine to make a cry, the more empty the belly, the louder the cry.

According to Associate Professor of Physiology Mark AW Andrews (USA) on Scientific American, the gastrointestinal tract is a hollow tube that runs from the mouth to the anus and is covered mainly from smooth muscle layers. The physiological origin of noise is related to the activity of the muscles in the stomach, small intestine and colon.

The yoke of sounds from the abdomen is caused by air, food, and fluid moving during the contraction of smooth muscles around the digestive tract. Food will reduce the noise in the stomach and intestines so when your stomach is empty, you will hear your belly make a clearer sound.

If the stomach is empty for a long time, the muscles of the stomach wall continue to contract more strongly than the last time. At that time, a lot of digested gas and food were compressed into an empty stomach, making the sound louder.

Abdominal pain is a way for the body to clean itself, removing leftovers and bacteria. This process lasts from 10 to 20 minutes and can be repeated after two hours until the stomach is fed.

The belly is not a symptom, it's simply a body that is hungry and is a sign that our digestive system is working well.
