Wipe the building glass more safely thanks to smart robot

Two students of Gia Dinh High School (Binh Thanh District) have created robots capable of cleaning glass, helping to reduce the danger for workers who are " hovering " in the sky.

Buildings and buildings are an integral part of the current urbanization process. Along with that is the birth of a very dangerous profession - workers wiping glass for buildings, office buildings. To do this job, it requires workers to have a high concentration. However, just a small negligence can pay with your life and health.

Understanding this problem, two students, Bui Manh Giap and Nguyen Van Hung, Gia Dinh High School (Binh Thanh District), jointly researched and created smart glass cleaning robots , helping workers to easier at work. The product has won the first prize in the Technical Innovation Contest for high school students organized by HCMC Department of Education and Training.

Sharing about the reasons for implementing the topic, Manh Gioi said: " By chance, I could read an article about flying people, despite my life, swinging up high-rise buildings to clean the glass. I also shared difficulties and hardships when working in the sunny and windy weather . Since then, I have a thought, why don't I try to make a smart, replaceable robot, help these workers ".

Hung added: " Before that, I was researching to create an automatic table mopping machine. The two of them never knew anything about each other's topics. In the same time, they participated in the competition organized by Thanh Doan Group. , seeing Gioi's glass-cleaning robot has similarities with its products, the two of us did not meet, met each other to implement this topic ".

It is known that the glass cleaner robot has 5 main parts, including a control circuit, a power supply motor, an ultrasonic sensor, a motor with velocity sensor and a light and a connecting line, gear High friction car to keep when going on glass

It is also equipped with high pressure water spray and a similar glass mop like a wall painting tool.

When active, this robot will be placed in the left corner of the glass and move straight up. When the glass is gone, the wheel axis rotates 180 degrees to the right and goes down, the process is repeated.

Strong said, due to automatic programming with high precision mechanism , with smart sensor , the machine can operate continuously without much control. During the test, the machine wiped off 1 m 2 of glass in only 15 - 20 seconds.

Sharing about the process of implementing the topic, Van Hung said that in the first time, due to not yet figuring out the operation mechanism as well as how to move the robot on the wall, it took you a lot of time to help the robot can stick on the wall as well as write algorithms to be able to move robots as desired.

" At first, we planned to equip the 4-wheeled robot on each side, but when tested, the machine could not turn its head to go down. Replacing smaller wheels would slip, unable to walk on the wall. Particularly This took almost a month to complete . "

Do not stop there, when going to manufacture the controller, you also have a lot of difficulties because this is the knowledge of the university program. Therefore, in addition to asking teachers for support, the two of them had to search more in the libraries in the school as well as in the city.

" It's simple to say, but the reality makes it difficult. Just adjust the 3 parameters, these 3 parameters can help robots go straight, rotate and up and down . but we don't have much experience yet. so many times there is interference between precise movement and programming to rotate, "Manh Gioi laughed.

Because it is composed of relatively inexpensive items, the cost to complete a glass-cleaning robot only costs about VND 2 million. The two of you said that in the coming time, we will focus on completing and replacing electric motors so that Brobot can operate for a long time instead of only 5-7 minutes as currently.
