Xerox develops technology 'in' processor
Xerox's new processor technology is completely different from the current technology of the microprocessor industry.
The CNET, Xerox has given New York Times journalists a look at their new technology at its Palo Alto, California research center. With this new technology, Xerox break conventional silicon panels into thousands "chiplet" small and then bottled the "chiplet" is the "ink" to print. Later, Xerox applied the same laser-printing technology to "print" the microprocessor circuits. Xerox's technology uses electrodes to ensure that the processor is " properly " printed .
Xerox "chipsets" can be made up of many products, from CPUs to RAM and even less well-known computer parts.
This technology is completely different from the technology being used by manufacturers. At present, Intel, Qualcomm and others build large silicon boards, and circuit boards. These silicon panels will then be chopped and placed onto the circuit board. Compared with this old technology, Xerox's technology will be simpler and more cost-effective.
However, according to Xerox, the company's " processor " technology is only in the testing phase and it may take a long time for this breakthrough to reach the consumer.
