Mysterious black roses in Turkey

Black rose is a rare flower and appears only in the village of Halfeti in Turkey.

It has the same shape as a normal rose, but the natural black color of these flowers will surprise you because someone thinks that they spray color on them.

These roses bloom seasonally , especially in summer with very small numbers and only grow in the village of Halfeti in Turkey. Thanks to the most favorable soil conditions in the region and the pH of the underground soil (absorbed from the Euphrates River), these roses get the mysterious black color. They bloom in deep red in spring and fade into black in summer.

These impressive black roses have created great anecdotes in the film about witches and magic. The local Turks see this rose as a symbol of mystery, hope and passion, as well as death and bad omen. They were threatened with extinction since the inhabitants of this village moved away from the ancient 'Halfeti village ' in the 1990s, when the Birecik dam began to be built.

This short distance offers favorable conditions for the development of beautiful black roses. The villagers have replanted this flower in the new gardens, but they do not adapt to the new environment so the amount of flowers has been significantly reduced.

Regional officials have attempted to save the flower. They collected seeds from households and built greenhouses around the old land for cultivation, hoping that the flower gradually recovered.
