100 days in Glacier park
Photographer Chris Peterson has written a diary with photos that reflect the natural beauty of Glacier Park, USA, for a period of 100 days. The photo set was made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the park's establishment.
Peterson's work begins on May 1.
Peterson combined digital cameras and film cameras, a Kodak Pocket Vest made in 1909 and a speed graphics machine. Here are some pictures taken from Chris's 100-day photo set. The photos were taken by Peterson and annotated as diaries.
On June 7, 2009, the 38th day, a photo of a favorite tree was taken. TJ Hileman one of the park's first photographers, cut two Bulo trees after he took good photos at McDonald's Lake. This is my favorite tree in Two Medicine Lake, but I don't intend to cut it.
On May 8, the 8th day, the beavers are "in love".
May 11, 2009, the 11th day, felt a fresh green. When I got out of the truck, the blue was stretched. In fact, I think there is rain or snow and start two days later the rain has covered everything and filled the streams. These appear briefly on the surface and disappear into the ground. Can only find this blue when you walk into the deep forest.
On May 15, 2009, the 14th day, again a rain. The fog covered Apgar mountains. These days can be described as: the sunlight fading, then the dark clouds filled with snow on high floors and rain and hail on the lower floor. I think it ruined today but not. This is a spectacular weekend.
On May 18, the 17th day, walking with a spider. A masterpiece of nature, trillium flowers are white and become pink or purple when it comes to the point. And this spider has turned white, perfectly hidden.
On May 27, the 26th day, photos of the smallest birds in North America. It is very difficult to capture images of hummingbirds in good conditions, flying mosquitoes, hissing winds, and bad light, thankfully I did not encounter them. Calliope is the smallest bird in North America, it's just my finger length, it has a lot in town but this is the first time I saw it in the park territory.
On May 31, 30th day, wish the moon a good night, the sun is rising on Gable Peak, Belly river.
On the 32nd day, the Black-cuckoo is the most popular bird in North America. As of the 32nd, I have not had a successful photo of this species, there is no black-cheeked bird, but because of their attraction, I did not sit still. The day before, when I was trying to take a picture of a lodgepole pine, a wolf appeared. He did not even run but stood and looked at me, then wandered away. And at that time, the thought of the chickadee flew away.
On June 7, the 37th day, after two warm weeks, snow fell in Two Medicine. Maybe I am the only one in the group looking forward to it. I love snow shooting. I climbed 152.4 m altitude to take a panoramic view of the valley. Climbing with a 400mm lens faces a lot of difficulties, but the more annoying thing is that the snow is too thick to see everything clearly, my water bottle froze. The next morning, I forgot the lens and camera on a table in the camp, feeling away from those things as if I lost my child. I was back at the campsite, fortunately everything was still there.
On June 9, the 40th, I returned to the forest. Today is as wet as the June days at Glacier Rock. There are low shrubs that provide food for ungulates at Glacier.
June 20. Day 49, An unexpected evening. Black bears are not always black, a mother bear comes with two cubs. They were not aggressive, but I shouted and threw stones at them to drive them away from me
June 24, 2009, 54th day, Ghost Shadow in Meadow. Most photos on the journey have to be somewhat cropped, but this picture I decided was not. Large gray owl is a wonderful bird, they have long legs. I have never seen it for years, I think it is a great gray when viewed through the lens.
On July 4, 63, Logan Pass is a special place, especially when lilies bloom. I sat down and waited for the squirrels. When I took this picture I was about 3 or 4 steps away from it.
On July 12, the 72th day. I took a squirrel and named the photo a small Buddha. For me, it is like the soul of Glacier.
July 17, the 76th day. Wild sheep at Haystack Butte. I think I had everything I needed in this photo, the bulls lived in swarms in the summer, they were great heads in the summer, and in the fall they were fierce horns. . It can be said, they are always good hands in everything.
