A series of crocodiles head in the middle of the frozen lake
Crocodiles that perform similar behavior hibernate to survive in cold weather in the United States.
The crocodile raised its nose from the ice.
Shallotte River Swamp Park in North Carolina, USA, posted on Facebook video recorded images of crocodiles performing a strange position when only raising the nose from the ice , UPI on January 9 reported.
Crocodile use a similar measure called brumation , George Howard, managed at the park, said. They lower body temperature and reduce metabolism to survive in cold conditions.
"The crocodiles put the nose up high, still breathing and healthy. They do this so that if the water freezes, it can still breathe. It is an amazing survival technique , " Howard explained.
Howard was surprised when he first saw the crocodiles under the lake and it was unclear what was rising from the ice. "Then I saw the teeth and realized the crocodiles were raising their heads , " he recounted. Howard was careful to learn about this behavior to make sure the crocodiles had no problems.
