A thousand-foot creature reappears

An extremely rare species of up to 1,000 feet appeared for the first time in 80 years.

Animals named Illacme plenipes were no longer seen since they were first discovered in an area in California, USA, in 1926.

One of the strange features of the animal is that it only lives in the humid areas of less than 1 km2 in San Benito County, California.

Marek and Bond found 4 males, 3 females and 5 young. The females have up to 666 feet, a little less than the record holder. Males have 318 to 402 feet. The name of the animal means 1,000 feet, while the maximum number of legs known is 750.
