Alloys 'transformed' 10 million types
Whatever the bending or deformation, the alloy will return to its original form after a fire.
Successfully manufactured alloy with 1-0-2
Recently, scientists have created a 1-0-2 alloy in the world. The alloy is made up of nickel, titanium and co-own 'memory ' cores.
In other words, despite their deformation in any shape, they automatically return to their original shape under the influence of temperature.
The special feature of this alloy is that their 'memory' lasts a long time. According to Prof. Manfred Wuttig of the University of Maryland, self-healing resin alloys have been invented for a long time, but usually only work 2-3 times with complete deformation.
However, this new alloy can suffer from ' stretching, retracting' up to 10 million times and can still return to its original shape. And to do that is simple, you only need to fire in a few minutes is complete.
Explaining this, experts explain all lies in the atomic structure in the alloy . Accordingly, nickel, titanium and copper in the new alloy are arranged in two different ways.
After deformation and fire, the atoms will move back to the initial state and alternate between the two. Thanks to that, the recovery features are superior to those of the same type.
According to researchers, in the future, this alloy will be commonly applied in the manufacture of aircraft parts, spacecraft or artificial heart valves in surgery.
