Cheap and thin aluminum foil lamps will soon light up every home, replacing bulky filament bulbs that feed on electricity.

Aluminum foils are purchased from the market in acidic solution, experts at the University of Illinois (U.S.) create a light bulb less than 1 mm thick with outstanding advantages such as brighter, lighter, less energy. , no mercury and longer lifespan.

The process of fabricating aluminum flashlights is summarized by physicist Gary Eden and his colleagues: soaking aluminum foil in acid so that the surface is filled with tiny holes. Under the action of acid, aluminum foils turn into an aluminum oxide form, creating a durable structure that allows the voltage to move through thin aluminum layers without decomposing them.

In addition to the potential for lighting, according to Massachusetts General Hospital doctors, aluminum foil lamps can be used to treat ultraviolet light psoriasis, which is expensive and requires regular visits to the doctor. .
