American launch shuttle Endeavor
At 1328 'this afternoon (Vietnamese time), the US shuttle Endeavor was launched into space from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The ship and crew of 7 will spend 16 days in the universe, the longest voyage of a shuttle to the International Space Station (ISS). It carries a part of Japan's Kibo laboratory, a robot that has two Canadian-made arms and a variety of experimental instruments.
Kibo, Japanese means " hope ", is a giant Japanese orbital laboratory, which will be assembled after its three divisions are posted to the ISS in turn. The first part is the reserve - being taken by Endeavor; the second part is the main space - expected to be posted on ISS in May.
The final part is the outdoor space with robotic arms, planned to be carried to the ISS next year. The cost for this lab is about $ 2.4 billion.
It is expected that during the stay in ISS, Endeavor astronauts will perform five space walks.
