An extremely rare pink grasshopper has just been discovered in northeastern England. It has such a strange color due to a very rare form of mutation in animals.

The photographer of the grasshopper image is Dr. Luke Blazejewski, a man who specializes in making films about wild animals. He spotted the grasshopper in a rotten grass field near the Irwell River. It was a small piece of abandoned land and many creatures gathered there, he said.

"I slipped through a raspberry tree and caught a glimpse of something pink across. At first, I thought it was a butterfly, when I looked back, I saw this very special creature ," Dr. Blazejewsk said.

" Pink appears due to genetic mutations, called erythrism. It is an abnormal phenomenon caused by silent genes, similar to albino animals ," he added.

Blazejewski is a resident of Salford city. He completed his master's degree and earned his doctorate at Salford University. This man has an interest in learning about wild species living in the city. Meanwhile, Salford is very suitable for this because about 60% of the areas in the city are green spaces, according to the Manchester Evening News.
