Artificial insemination for rhinos

Budapest (Hungary) Zoo said that artificial insemination has successfully completed rhino, opening new hopes in the conservation of this endangered precious and rare animal.

The first rhino in the world born from artificial insemination is a female rhino, weighing 58 kg. 'This rhinoceros looks clever and full of life. An hour after he was born, he was able to stand on his own foot, ' according to the zoo's announcement.

The mother rhino named Lulu, now 26 years old, was unable to conceive naturally despite being "entangled" with a male rhino named Easyboy. A group of veterinarians from Germany, Austria and Hungary have started artificial insemination for it. After the first failure, Lulu finally became pregnant in 2005. Lulu's rhino "She" was in her mother's womb for 16 months and 15 days.

Zoltan Hanga zoo spokesperson said the zoo will give the baby rhino a public debut for the first time this spring.
