Asteroids are named Wikipedia
The asteroid 274,301, discovered by Ukrainian astronomers on August 25, 2008, has just been named Wikipedia in honor of this open encyclopedia.
The asteroid carries the code 274.301 discovered by Astronomical Observatory named Andrushevka in Zhytomyr area. It was a celestial body orbiting the Sun at a distance of 2.3 astronomical units (about 344 million kilometers) and spinning a full circle for 3.68 years.
In order to explain the decision to name this asteroid discovered by Ukraine, the Astronomical Society announced: "Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia, the content is made by a collective of authors from all over. It helps a lot of people around the world to learn any problems.In the field of astronomy, every day from "Wikipedia" a few dozen asteroids have been named ".
The official Ukrainian newsletter said that the member of the administration of 'Wikipedia Ukraine' , Andrey Makukha, made this proposal and was approved by the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. People do not know the nature of asteroids but assume that it consists only of metal and stone.
Andrushevka Astronomical Observatory, which discovered 'Wikipedia' has been built and put into operation since 2001. Among the asteroids that Radio has discovered is the asteroid Zhytomir (code 117240), Andrushevka ( code 133,293) and Klischki (code 212.723).
