Beautiful 3D images of the galaxy

This is the best hologram of the galaxy ever created based on data from the VISTA telescopes of the European Space Observatory (ESO).

The central area, called the galaxy's protrusion , consists of a giant cloud containing about 10 billion stars and the inner area is shaped of a peanut if viewed from one side.

Inside the center, experts still believe that the largest bulge contains a supermassive black hole, however, the black hole cannot be observed directly.

Astronomers are very difficult to see the protruding part of the galaxy center, because it is obscured by a lot of heavy gas and dust clouds. But new observations allow for more observations of light colors through near infrared spectral rays, which are easily visible through distances in the galaxy.

In this study, scientists were able to identify stars that were 30 times more faint than previous convex centers. The location of 22 million stars has been added to the list. This information creates a flat view of the galaxy, because it is difficult to tell why stars farther away from Earth look like a small star closer to Earth.

The data gathered from the comparison of 2.2-meter MPG / ESO images capturing the galaxy for 11 years has resulted in 3D images of the positions of stars in the galaxy. Small changes of about 400 young stars gave astronomers a hint on the direction of movement in different regions of the celestial convex h .

With both sets of data, researchers were able to create the most accurate 3D map of the shape of the galactic convex.
