According to the French National Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA), insect pollination activities contribute up to 9.5% of the total value of global agricultural production.

INRA's research results are published in the context of the American and European scientific community expressed concern about the decline in bee numbers. According to their calculations, if bees disappear completely, agricultural and forestry output will decline, pushing food prices higher. At that time, consumers worldwide will have to spend an additional 273 to 446 billion dollars per year, not to mention the direct impact on the environment.
