Butterflies are beautiful like fairytale in Mexico
The butterfly forest is facing a threat from deforestation, making it only a matter of time.
Each year, hundreds of millions of Monarch butterflies from Canada and the United States cross the 4,000 km route to the Michoacan forest, Mexico, forming the largest-scale insect migration in the world.
Countless butterflies gathered on trees or ground, turning a large area into orange and black carpet.Anyone who sees it must admire this natural scene.
The migration of Monarch butterflies is seen as one of the most interesting mysteries of the natural world. They were born in places like Toronto, Winnipeg or Detroit, and somehow somehow gathered together to fly across the continent to central Mexico. No one knows exactly why they did it, but experts believe they are guided by the magnetic field.
Monarch began arriving in Michoacan forest at the end of October to shelter in the winter. Here they will spend the next 5 months clustering together to form a large population that looks from the outside like colorful honeycomb.
Mexico's butterfly forest is a protected nature reserve and is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. However, this does not protect the Monarch and the forest from the greedy sight.
For tourists who are passionate about Monarch, they are not afraid to travel hundreds of kilometers just to enjoy their beauty. However, Monarch is in danger as the number of trees in the forest is gradually disappearing.Illegal logging in the Monarch butterfly's biosphere reserve center has been a long-standing problem.
In November 2015, the community condemned the logging team in the Sierra Chincua Sanctuary, the central area of the biosphere reserve, leaving 9 hectares of forests completely gone. But when they delivered the deforers to the prosecutor's office, they were released on bail after only a few hours.
Just a few months ago, the threat to Monarch butterfly sanctuary had increased when the Group Mexico, the nation's largest mining company, was granted permission to return to Angangueo, a town at the convention center. The biosphere reserve was closed 25 years ago.If it goes live, the disappearance of the fairy forest is only a matter of time.
Washington Center for Biodiversity Research.DC said the number of butterflies is only 68% compared to 22 years ago.
