Children are often bitten by dogs because of ... disorder

It is no coincidence that children are bitten more often than adults. A recent study at a veterinary hospital in Philadelphia, the United States revealed the reasons for more aggressive dogs.

The team studied 111 cases of dog bites. They discovered that there were typical types of behavior that made dogs think they were violated and scary.

- Young children (under 6 years old) are easily bitten when the dog feels people are trying to get their food or toys.

- Older children invade the territory of the animal, and so "eat" a bite.

- Children who are familiar with dogs are often bitten while the animal is protecting the plate.

- Strange children are often bitten when dogs preserve territory.

These behaviors are encountered in many different breeds. Three-quarters of the dogs that bite were found to be in a state of anxiety, either discarded by their owners, or exposed to loud noises like thunder or fireworks. Young children are especially noisy and run around, making animals panic and bite to defend themselves.

Half of all dogs were found to have disease problems, such as eye pain, kidney and liver disease, as well as diseases related to bone and skin. Researcher Illana Reisner of the University of Pennsylvania and colleagues speculated that the pain caused by the disease could make dogs cranky, and bite people.
