China develops human identification technology through gestures

New Chinese technology can accurately identify an object through its gait within a maximum distance of 50 meters at a speed of 200 milliseconds, regardless of front or back.

Researchers at the Institute of Automated Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) have developed a new technology that can identify people through gestures.

Researcher Hoang Vinh Trinh of IACAS said that human identification technology through gestures have many advantages over current biometric technologies.

For example, retina recognition technology can only work effectively when the normal distance to the target is less than 30 meters, face recognition technology requires a much smaller distance of 5 meters or less.

Meanwhile, the new IACAS technology can accurately identify the subject of the object through the gait within a maximum distance of 50m at a speed of 200mm regardless of front or back. In addition, this technology does not need the active cooperation of the object.

According to IACAS, human identification technology through gestures can be used extensively in security systems, public transportation and commercial centers. China is leading the world in this technology.
