Chinese pandas return to England after 20 years
On the evening of December 4, two big pandas were brought from China to Scotland. These are the first pandas to come to England to live after nearly 20 years.
Tian Tian Panda
The panda, named Tian Tian and Yang Guang, will switch to 'new home' , the Edinburgh zoo for 10 years. Officials hope they will give birth during their stay.
According to the Scottish Herald , the crowd of about 200 fans, including many students and parents, queued in front of the zoo entrance to see the pandas. Along with them are media reporters, police and curious visitors .
Yang Guang Panda
AP said that each year the Royal Society of Scottish Animals will spend more than £ 600,000 ($ 935,000) on China to borrow Tian Tian and Yang Guang. This cost does not include imported bamboo for pandas.
Earlier, London Zoo had also borrowed a large Chinese panda, and it returned it to 1994.
