The Institute of Occupational Health and Environment collaborated with Hanoi University of Technology to design and manufacture a full-body disinfection chamber using ion saline. Currently, the Institute has installed and tested the mobile chamber disinfection system at the entrance of the Institute.
Currently, these two mobile body disinfection chambers are being installed and tested by the Institute of Agriculture and Environment at the entrance of the institute.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Hai - Director of VAST, the system is designed based on the principle of using an ionized saline solution (Anolyte) in the form of mist spraying the whole body to quickly disinfect the body surface. All disinfectant solutions are prepared by the VAST and ensure safety for sensitive skin areas.
Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Ngoc Hai said that the disinfecting solution used here is ion brine instead of Cloramin B solution used to disinfect the surrounding environment.Chloramin B solution does not spray on people because it causes respiratory irritation.Ion salt water alone does not affect anything so absolutely safe and when inhaled, we can disinfect nose and throat.
The main component of the system is a 360-degree fog mist sprayer, combined with an infrared sensor installed inside the chamber that automatically activates the disinfection spraying process when a person is detected.
In addition to the fog solution system, engineers are currently testing ozone and ozone disinfection systems.
'The use of high temperatures in combination with ozone to the right degree can help kill bacteria. Currently, we are conducting experiments with engineers and medical experts to provide a reasonable level of heat and ozone, 'said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Hai.
It only takes 15 - 20 seconds to 'clean' a person's body.In addition, the system is designed as a module so it can be easily removable and transported.A complete installation system can meet the capacity of disinfection up to 1,000 people / day.
'Currently, we are still in the testing phase, replicating this model is only a matter of time. The components to create the product are quite simple and manufactured right in Vietnam and the price is not too expensive ', Associate Professor and Doctor Doan Ngoc Hai added.
Currently, VAST has required all employees as well as visitors to the agency to go through this sterilization chamber.
During the testing process, the Department of Laboratory - Analysis of the Institute of Aquaculture and Environment conducted a study using human microbiological samples. The results showed that more than 90% of bacteria, viruses on the body surface, clothes . were completely removed after going through the body disinfection chamber.
In order to contribute to the prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic, VAST hopes that this model will continue to be effective in many places.
"The whole-body disinfection chamber will partly address the need for screening and prevention of infection in crowded contact areas, especially at medical examination and treatment establishments, enterprises, schools and trade centers. trade ., contributing to preventing the spread of disease ' , Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Ngoc Hai said.
