Disinfect with Ozone technology

Scientists belonging to the Department of Electronic Physics and Institute of Physics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) have perfected the technology of disinfection by ozone technology. This is a new technology, with many advantages: low investment, high sterilization efficiency, short time of bactericidal treatment.

To prevent hospital infections (NKBV), so far, in medical facilities, people often use some traditional methods such as using chemicals, using high temperatures or using ultraviolet rays .

According to Dr. Dr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Dean of Microbiology Department, Huu Nghi Hospital, these methods have low disinfection efficiency, long treatment time, and many residues that are harmful to the environment and affect people's health. use, high cost and easy to damage tools when used many times.

Before this situation, scientists of the Department of Electronic Physics - Institute of Physics (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) have studied and manufactured some types of ozone gas generators for disinfection of preventive and reducing air. hand sanitizer for surgeons and some devices for disinfecting medical instruments using ozone gas.

Nguyen Ngoc Khang said ozone is another form of oxygen, a gas with a characteristic and transparent odor that is capable of destroying tissue, causing death to bacteria, leaving little harmful residues and hardly cause re-contaminants.

Ozone-based disinfection method is a new method in Vietnam. Through research, experimentation as well as practical use, this method has many advantages. Dr. Dr. Cong Quyet Thang - Chairman of anesthesia department , Huu Nghi Hospital said that using ozone technology has increased disinfection efficiency, short sterilization time, killed many types of bacteria, viruses, less image Affecting users and not polluting the environment.

According to MA Nguyen Thi Khanh Van - Department of Electronic Physics, Institute of Physics, using ozone technology greatly reduces costs because the cost of consumable materials is almost not available due to the use of raw materials as oxygen. The substance or oxygen is available in the air and uses electricity to convert oxygen into ozone.

According to the research team, the result of improving ozone technology opens up a new direction in the prevention of NKBV for the health sector, replacing expensive chemical and radioactive methods as well as affecting users and surroundings. .

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), at any given time, there are about 1.4 million people suffering from NKBV. In Vietnam, according to the results of the regional survey, the recent hospital cluster rate of NKBV is 5.5 - 8%. Particularly in Hanoi, through investigation and supervision at 34 hospitals in 2009, this rate is 2.9%.
