Mr. Alonso Quevedo, the chief of the expedition, said the first species to be found was a straight-nosed frog, belonging to the Rhinella family, with the outstanding feature that they did not undergo tadpoles but hatched straight into toads from eggs. .

The only newly discovered individuals of this species are no more than 2cm long, their heads are the same color as the fallen leaves, also the environment where they often hide themselves.

The second finding is a species of red-eyed frog, " ruby ," which is 3-4cm in size and lives in forests above 2,000m above sea level. According to Professor Quevedo, not only is this a new species, but the whole family of frogs has never been classified by science.

Finally, the ' rocket frog ,' has a length of about 3cm, carries red streaks on the thighs and has poison. They live in areas around streams, fuses and have a habit of ' transporting ' carefully hatched tadpoles on their backs and then drop into streams.

A common feature of all three species is that they are found to be active during the daytime, which is quite strange for amphibians (usually nightlife).

Quevedo said the discovery of three new animals in a new period shows Colombia's high, but undiscovered, biodiversity.
