Confident robot leader Italy conductor

YuMi robot first led the Italian orchestra in concert with popular singer Andrea Bocelli.

YuMi conducts the Lucca Philharmonic for the first time in a very clever move in Pisa, Italy, on Sept. 12, according to Reuters.

YuMi directed three of the 18 performances on the show, including the "La donna e mobile" scene from the famous opera Rigoletto by composer Giuseppe Verdi. Standing on the stage performing with the robot is the blind singer famous proprietary vocalist, Andrea Bocelli.

The YuMi robot is designed by ABB Technology Switzerland with two arms that can move flexibly. YuMi's name is based on the English phrase "you and me" , meaning "you and me".

"Tonight, we have created history and written the future of robot applications." YuMi shows intuition, his ability to learn, demonstrating our software is excellent in learning the the movement of the conductor, the perception of music and the overall conduct of the orchestra , " said Ulrich Spiesshofer, CEO of ABB, after the show.

"We have to take time to understand the movements of the robot , " said conductor Andrea Colombini, "after understanding it all becomes easy ." "Extremely excellent technicians are excellent at doing everything perfect, especially time and speed, very important elements."
