Engadget reports that Belgian researchers at Ghent University have found a way to send text messages from mobile phones to contact lenses in the human eye. Their contact lenses are a spherical liquid crystal display. This screen is capable of receiving messages from the phone through wireless communication. Thanks to that the user can read the message right on the contact lens instead of looking at the mobile screen.
Thanks to the technology of Ghent University, users can read messages on the contact lenses.
In a recent performance, the team gave the $ (dollar) symbol on contact lenses. They assert that images and messages can be seen on the entire surface of the glass.
Professor Herbert De Smet, a member of the research team, said he and his colleagues have only completed the basic steps in the technology of making contact lenses with liquid crystal displays.
"We can start researching to make truly usable products, and our new contact lenses can be on the market in the next few years , " Smet said.
The team is also considering the possibility of applying liquid crystal display technology to make sunglasses that can change brightness under sunlight in the surrounding environment.
