Cover the Internet with huge balloons

Google will begin testing balloon balloons to send Internet signals in Indonesia next year and hope to be able to link to 100 million people.

Indonesia consists of more than 17,000 islands, most of the islands are hilly and jungle. This difficult terrain makes it impossible to install optical fiber or mobile signaling towers. As a result, nearly a third of the population of the world's fourth most populous country can not access the Internet.

However, the US company Google has come up with a solution through the Loon project . Along with three internet service providers from Indonesia - Telkomsel, Axiata and Inmost - Google is set to begin testing Internet broadcasting from balloons next year.

According to IFL Science, the Loon project aims to send balloons containing 12m of helium gas to 20km elevation in the stratosphere, where they can signal the Internet at 10 megabits per second. Each balloon is equipped with a solar panel, a travel computer with a satellite navigation system and a height control system.
