Vietnam's broadband Internet demand is huge

According to a survey by Alcatel-Lucent telecom group in 10 countries with a growing Internet market, Vietnam is a country with huge demand for broadband, with 72% of Internet Cafe users and 75 % of public Internet users intend to subscribe to broadband Internet services at home.

Alcatel-Lucent representative introduced the survey results of broadband Internet demand in Vietnam on the afternoon of September 27.

The 10 countries included in this survey include India, Egypt, Brazil, Malaysia, the Philippines, Russia, China, Kenya, Indonesia and Vietnam. In each country, the program conducted interviews with 300 Internet users in 3 groups, 100 Internet users at the restaurant, 100 users at the workplace and 100 people using broadband Internet at their own homes. According to the survey results, only 8% of popular Internet users in Vietnam use Internet Dial-up. Meanwhile, the proportion of people who have personal computers (including PCs and laptops) accounts for 58%, the remaining 31% are planning to buy computers. 56% of home internet users said they could give up $ 10-20 for monthly Internet charges.

Alcatel-Lucent's representative said the demand for gaming accounted for the highest proportion in the usage purposes of Vietnamese users. The demand for using the Internet for VoIP calls by Vietnamese users is also the highest among the 10 countries surveyed.
