According to the people in the area near Zinc gate (Son Tra village, Binh Dong commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai), the fierce beast appeared from the evening of May 7 with fierce roars. In the morning, many people were horrified when they discovered many of the dogs' heads were bitten off their heads, tearing their intestines and eating all the organs of the five organs. "A lot of animal footprints also appear on the sandy beach in the area of ​​Zinc, with a diameter of 12-15cm. At a stone cavity there are traces that many people leave behind when lying down from the sun here. The appearance of the beast has enveloped the local population community with a bewildered and fearful atmosphere, some households located on the northwest edge of the village had to go to sleep thanks to other strange animals. Other households did not dare to go out in the evening, " said one resident.

Some initial identification characteristics of strange animals have been noted by the people. In which a student at Binh Dong Secondary School, said, "beast" is a very large animal, about 40-50kg, black, with white borders around the neck like stainless steel chains.

Talking to Dat Viet , Dr. Le Xuan Canh, Director of the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources said, if the initial identities such as animals weigh about 40-50kg, are black, have white borders around the neck is exactly, it is almost certainly one of two species of sun bear or horse bear. The habitat of bear and horse bears is relatively large, including many provinces in the Central region. As omnivores, their food is very rich, ranging from ripe fruits, plant sprouts, honey to animals such as birds, fish and small animals. Usually, bear and horse bears do not actively attack humans without being provoked.

In the Vietnam Red Book, both equine bear and bear bears are rare, threatened at very high levels in the wild by hunting, indiscriminate trapping and deforestation. Vietnamese law strictly prohibits the hunting of these two species.
