Cherax pulcher was discovered in the Hoa Creek area, near Teminabuan village in West Papua province, Indonesia. Although it has been sold since the early 2000s, no one knows what this species is and where it came from. "In the past 10 years, the number of colorful lobster sold in the aquarium market in Europe, North America and Asia has been increasing. They are called by the names like Cherax 'Hoa Creek', Irian Jaya . ", he said.
According to IB Times, this species has two common color groups , including white, blue, purple and blue gray, blue, white. Cherax pulcher differs from other lobsters in its shape, body and color. They have a length of about 12 cm . Larger body parts help shrimp adapt to fast flows with higher dissolved oxygen levels.
However, Lukhaup identified new shrimp species that are in danger when they are caught for sale and food. The number of species has been decreasing in recent years.
