Discover the oldest solar asteroid group

French scientists discovered a group of the oldest solar asteroids in the asteroid belt.

Discovered by scientists at the Côte d'Azur University in Nice, France, published in Science, NBC News on August 4 reported.

In the early part of the solar system, the solid rock material formed the planetary micrograph . Some planets of the planet merge into planets while most planets exist in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

Using a computer model to study the inside of the asteroid belt, scientists find asteroids grouping in a V-shape. This is the structure of a broken object into pieces. and drifting over time.

"We found a group of 4 billion-year-old asteroids lying along the interior of the asteroid belt , " said astrophysicist Marco Delbo, the lead author of the study. According to scientists, the solar system formed about 4.6 billion years ago.

This group consists of 108 dark asteroids, an average diameter of 11.5 km. Asteroid 282 Clorinde has the largest size, about 42km wide. "This finding allows us to identify some of the original planetesimals with sizes greater than 35km, and support the view that asteroids are born with large sizes."

Finding an ancient asteroid group supports scientists to study the formation of planets like Earth. In addition, most asteroids hitting the Earth come from this area, according to Delbo.

Asteroids are often named after the largest asteroid, possibly the original celestial body. However, this rule does not apply to new asteroid groups because the original celestial body may have been pulled away due to the gravitational pull of the planets after several billion years.
