Discovered a $ 5.3 million meteorite in the field

Few doubts, the rock lying between the farm of a Spanish farmer during the past 30 years is the remains of an asteroid that plunges into the earth since ancient times, worth up to 5, 3 million USD.

Faustino Asensio Lopez and his father found a stone weighing 100kg in a field near Ciudad Real in 1980. At first, their father and son thought that the metal block of size 45x31x20cm was the remnant of the civil war in Western territory. Spain Because of that, the metal blocks were thrown on the farm and used only when needed.

The meteorite block worth $ 5.3 million was thrown out of the field for 30 years.

However, in a view of the meteor television program in Spain in 2011, Lopez was curious about the origin of the strange iron block. He contacted geologist Juan Carlos Gutierrez Marco to learn more about the stone.

After in-depth analysis, Spanish scientists confirmed that the metal block was a meteorite, colliding with the earth long ago. This metal could be part or the remains of an asteroid or comet colliding with the surface of the earth. This is the fourth meteorite of this type discovered in Spain.

Marco geologist said: 'The iron meteorite exists because it is buried underground, helping to minimize the impact of the natural environment'. Similar meteorites were discovered at Quesa in 1898, Granada in 1912 and Zaragoza in 1950.

Currently, the Lopez brothers are considering selling this meteorite. If offered, the price of falling metal from the sky may reach a minimum of 5.3 million USD. Despite its great value, the current owners of the stone have not ruled out the ability to keep it as a family memorabilia.
