Discovered new lizards living isolated for millions of years

Biologists have discovered new lizards, who have been isolated on the Pacific island for millions of years.

Scientists discovered the new lizard, named Varanus semotus. This lizard species is found on the island of Massau isolated in the Pacific Ocean. Many people believe that this lizard has been isolated here for over a million years without anyone knowing it.

And it is also the oldest and last lizard strain that lives on this island.

Described as "an odd creature" , researchers at the University of Turku in Finland say that the lizard Varanus semotus is the largest predator on Massau Island.

Lizard Varanus semotus is longer than 1m. Inside the oral cavity comes a very special double-edged blade shape.

Not only did the lizards of Varanus semotus be discovered, scientists also discovered reptiles, mammals, amphibians and some invertebrates.

Because of the isolation factor for many years, without interference, the island's biological surface is relatively stable and diverse.
